Built by a practice that got tired of the invoice.
Fillara is owned by a Las Vegas dental clinic. It exists because we were the customer first, and the maths on the bill stopped making sense.
A $65 fee on a $176 shift
A dental assistant covered a day at our practice. Their pay for it came to $176. The fee on top was $65 — about 37% — and none of it was on the screen when the shift was booked. It arrived afterwards, on a line item, next to a card surcharge. That is the whole origin story: not that somebody charged us, but that we could not see what we were agreeing to until after we had agreed to it.
What we decided to do differently
- The fee is on the screen before you post
- A flat $50 per shift for assistants and front desk, 17% for hygienists. You see the total, the pay and the fee together, before the shift exists — not on a statement three weeks later.
- The terms we would rather you read
- Most platforms put the awkward parts where nobody looks. Ours are on the front page: what happens if you cancel late, what happens if nobody claims the shift, when you are charged, and what we will not do. If a term would annoy you to discover, it belongs somewhere you can find it before you need it.
- Nobody is between you and the person
- We are not an agency and we do not employ the professional or mark up their hours. The practice sets the rate, the professional accepts it, and the fee is ours to earn separately — so we have no reason to push either number around.
- You are charged after the work
- Nothing is collected when you post. A shift nobody claims costs nothing at all, and the charge follows hours that were actually worked and actually approved.
Why a cancelled professional still gets paid
Somebody who accepts your Tuesday turns down other Tuesdays. If you cancel inside 24 hours, they are paid two hours at their rate — and we take none of it; it goes to the person who cleared their day. It is the only way a bench stays willing to accept a shift three weeks out, and a bench that will not accept early is a bench that cannot cover an emergency. The guarantee is what makes the rest of it work.
From the founder
[FOUNDER: personalize] — a photograph, not an avatar. One face is more trust than any logo.
[FOUNDER: personalize] — one paragraph, first person: who you are, which practice, and why you would rather run this than keep paying for it.
Marked [FOUNDER: personalize] because it has to be his sentence, not ours.
The specifics are on the FAQ pages: for practices and for professionals. The fee card is on pricing.
